Sequencer Staff View

The notes for a selected channel are displayed in staff format. The channel can be selected in the upper left corner. You can also select all channels or all channels minus 10 (no drums). The channels will be displayed in multiple lines.

To insert notes: select mode Insert, an insert note will appear on the screen. When it is at the same start position as an existing note or rest it will be colored brown. In between the notes and rests it will have a gray color, look in the upper right corner to read its ticks value. Click to insert the note at the pointed location. Size and velocity of inserted notes is defined by the values selected above the staff window. If you select variable length then each time a note is inserted a window will popup with a choice of notelengths. This popup window also allows you to add a chord, a lyric or a text instead of a note.

To edit a note: select mode Modify. Drag a note up and down to change its pitch. Drag a note right and left to change its start position. Point at a note and scroll the mousewheel with the L key pressed (F2 in Linux) to change the length. Doing the same with the V key pressed (F1 in Linux) will change the velocity. Chords and lyrics can also be dragged to a different timing.

To delete a note, chord or lyric: select mode Delete. Point at a note and click to delete it.

Pressing the i, d or m key (F5, F6 or F7) in Linux will temporary switch to Insert, Delete or Modify mode (keep it pressed).

The Grid value determines the interval size that notes are snapped to during insert and edit. Resolution determines the notelength displayed, a larger value gives a cleaner image but shows less detail abouth the note lengths.

Staff with chords and lyrics can be printed using menu File=>Print Staff.
